How Epoxy Contractors Rank in the Google Map Pack

When a homeowner searches “epoxy garage floor near me,” Google shows a map with a short list of local businesses above the regular results. That list is called the map pack, or local pack, and it is where most local calls start. For epoxy and concrete coating companies, the map pack is often worth more than any other channel.

The three ranking factors Google names

Google says local results are based mainly on three things:

  • Relevance: how well your profile matches what the person searched for.
  • Distance: how far you are from the searcher, or from the location they typed.
  • Prominence: how well known and trusted your business is, based on reviews, links, articles and your presence across the web.

You cannot change where a customer is standing, but you can improve relevance and prominence. That is what profile optimization is.

The profile checklist

1. Choose the right categories

Your primary category is one of the strongest relevance signals. Pick the most specific category Google offers for what you mainly do, then add secondary categories only for services you really provide.

2. List every service

Add services for each system you install: flake, solid color, metallic, quartz, polyaspartic topcoats, polished concrete, commercial and industrial floors, garage floors, patios and pool decks. Write a one-sentence description for each.

3. Write a clear business description

Say what you do, where you work and what makes you different, in plain language. Do not stuff in keywords or city lists.

4. Keep your name, address and phone consistent

Your business name should be the real name customers see on your truck, invoices and website. Your details should match everywhere online, including your website and other directories.

5. Add real photos on a schedule

Upload finished floors, process shots, your crew at work and your vehicles. Fresh, real photos tell customers and Google that the business is active.

6. Post every week

Share completed projects, seasonal reminders and offers. Each post is another chance to show your work and give a call to action.

7. Earn reviews and answer all of them

Ask every happy customer for a review, and reply to every review you receive. Prospects read your replies as closely as they read the reviews.

Rule to remember: never offer rewards for reviews and never ask only your happiest customers. Google’s policies prohibit both.

8. Make your website match

Your profile links to your website, so the site should load fast on a phone, show the same business details and have a clear way to request an estimate.

How long does it take?

Profile fixes can be completed quickly. Ranking changes depend on your market, how strong your competitors are and how fast you earn reviews. Treat it as an ongoing process, not a one-time task.
